Mission statement

OCZMA serves local elected officials on the Oregon Coast.  OCZMA is a clearinghouse of objective information on issues relating to the Oregon Coast—this information is then shared with the state and federal government.  OCZMA conducts studies on the Oregon Coast's economy and carries out applied research to improve the standard of living in the region.  Through our extensive network of local government officials and many other partners, OCZMA gives voice to the concerns and needs of coastal residents.

 

Oregon Coastal Notes Newsletter—The Economic Stimulus Package: Will Oregon's Rural Communities Get Their Fair Share? (January 9, 2009)

In this issue of OCZMA's Oregon Coastal Notes Newsletter, OCZMA explores the challenges and opportunities presented by the federal Economic Stimulus Package that will be before Congress in early 2009. 

In addition, we touch upon the Governor's Jobs & Transportation Act (JTA) that will before the 2009 Oregon Legislature.  The burning issue for Oregon's rural communities is do we have the staff and the discretionary resources to forward infrastructure projects that are "shovel ready"? 

The Newsletter also discusses the last meeting of the Oregon Rural Congress which was held in North Bend, Oregon at the Mill Casino on December 5, 2008.
