Land Use
Zoning and land use on the Oregon Coast is implemented by cities and counties. If you have a question about a particular property on the Oregon Coast, contact your City Planning Department or your County Planning Department.
Oregon has a famous statewide land use planning law (Senate Bill 100). Under Oregon law, land use actions taken at the city and county levels are subject to state review. And, there are 19 Statewide Planning Goals (administrative rules) that govern how land use is carried out in the state of Oregon. Four of the planning goals address ocean and coastal resources (Planning Goals 16 through 19).
When necessary, OCZMA comments on the interpretation and administration of the Coastal Planning Goals.
